About us

About Moving Solutions International — Freight Forwarding Built on Coordination

We are an Australian international freight forwarding and customs brokerage business, based in Brisbane and working with importers and exporters across Australia. Our background is complex logistics coordination, and that is exactly what international freight is.

In short

Moving Solutions International is an Australian international logistics management company based in Brisbane. We plan, coordinate and control sea freight, air freight, project cargo, import and export programs, customs clearance coordination and supply chain solutions for Australian businesses. Who we are

A coordination business that moved into freight

Moving Solutions began by managing relocations that other companies found too complicated — moves with multiple providers, tight timeframes, vulnerable clients and no room for error. That work built a particular discipline: plan the detail, brief every party, hold one point of accountability, and never let a handover be the place where information disappears.

Moving Solutions International applies the same discipline to commercial cargo. International freight is a chain of independent parties — supplier, origin agent, carrier, terminal, border agencies, transport operator — and almost every failure happens in the gaps between them. Our job is to close those gaps. We are based in Brisbane, we work across every major Australian port and air gateway. Domestic relocations within Australia are outside our freight forwarding focus.

How we work

  • One coordinator per client. A named person who knows your products, your suppliers and your deadlines — not a shared inbox.
  • Landed cost, not teaser rates. We quote the whole journey including duty, GST and delivery, and we mark estimates as estimates.
  • Compliance before convenience. Correct classification and complete documentation protect you from penalties and audits, so we would rather ask one more question than guess.
  • Proactive communication. You should hear about a delay from us, before your customer hears about it from you.
  • Advice you can act on. If a change to your Incoterm, packaging or shipment frequency would save you money, we will say so even when it reduces our invoice.

What we believe

Four principles we will not trade away

Tell the truth about timing

Freight is uncertain and pretending otherwise damages your business more than ours. We quote realistic windows with the risks named, then work hard to beat them.

Never hide a charge

Every quote is itemised. If a cost cannot be fixed in advance we show it as an estimate and explain what moves it. Surprises on an invoice are a failure of communication, not a market condition.

Own the problem

When a vessel rolls, a container is held or a supplier ships late, you should get a plan rather than an explanation of whose fault it was.

Protect the client’s compliance position

Under-declaring or guessing a classification might get one shipment through cheaply. The importer carries that liability for years. We will not do it.

Expertise

What our team is actually expert in

“Experienced team” means nothing on its own. These are the specific competencies the work requires, and they are the things worth interrogating in any forwarder you are considering — including us.

Tariff classification and valuation

Applying the Harmonised System interpretation rules to real goods, documenting the reasoning, identifying Tariff Concession Orders, and obtaining Tariff Advices where the exposure justifies it. This is where importers carry legal liability and where most money is left on the table.

How classification works →

Free trade agreement origin claims

Knowing which of Australia’s agreements applies, which origin rule the goods must satisfy, what documentary evidence each agreement requires, and how to instruct a supplier to produce it before shipment rather than after.

FTA claims →

Biosecurity and quarantine

Timber treatment and certificate wording, packing declarations, contamination risk on used machinery and vehicles, and managing a biosecurity direction when one is issued. This is the most common cause of delay on Australian imports and the most preventable.

Documentation control

Checking a commercial invoice, packing list, transport document, packing declaration and certificate of origin against each other before the goods move — and against letter of credit terms where one applies.

Shipping documents →

Mode and lane selection

Modelling sea against air on landed cost rather than freight rate, knowing which lanes tranship and which do not, and knowing when a factory shutdown or a peak season will invalidate an otherwise sensible plan.

Trade routes →

Out-of-gauge and project cargo

Lift studies, stow planning, flat rack and breakbulk selection, road permits and route surveys, and sequencing delivery to an installation program rather than to a vessel schedule.

Project cargo →

Dangerous goods

Classifying from the safety data sheet rather than the product name, and understanding how packing group, segregation and air freight limits change what is possible and what it costs.

Cost structure and cash flow

Building genuine landed-cost quotes, explaining what would move each estimate, and identifying deferred GST, duty drawback and refund opportunities that sit outside the freight conversation entirely.

Freight costs →

Accountability

What we commit to on every shipment

These are commitments rather than aspirations, and you should hold us to them.

  • A named coordinator with a direct number, who owns your shipment from booking to delivery
  • Quotes returned within one business day, itemised, with estimated lines identified and the assumptions stated
  • Landed-cost quoting — duty, GST, terminal and port charges and delivery included, not added later
  • Proactive updates — you hear about a delay from us, not from your customer
  • Documents checked before the goods move, not on arrival
  • Free trade agreement eligibility assessed on every entry, whether or not you ask
  • An invoice you can reconcile line by line to the quote, with variances explained
  • Honesty when we get it wrong — what happened, what we are doing, and what we have changed

Choosing a forwarder

Eight questions worth asking any freight forwarder

Including us. If a forwarder cannot answer these clearly, that itself is the answer.

AskWhat a good answer sounds like
Does your quote include duty, GST, terminal charges and delivery?A yes, with each line itemised and estimates flagged — not “that depends” or a rate with charges to follow.
Who lodges my customs declaration, and are they in your business?A clear statement of who does the work and who is accountable, not a vague reference to a partner.
What tariff classification will you use for my goods, and why?A specific code with reasoning based on material and function — not “we will work it out on arrival”.
Which free trade agreement applies, and what do you need from my supplier?A named agreement and a specific document request you can forward to the supplier today.
Will I have one contact, and can I have their direct number?Yes and yes.
What happens if the vessel is rolled?A described process for notification and re-planning, not reassurance that it rarely happens.
What is the biosecurity risk with my goods?A specific answer about timber, contamination or treatment — proof they have thought about your cargo.
What will you not be able to control? An honest list. Anyone claiming total control of an international supply chain is selling you something.
We are happy to answer all eight for your specific cargo before you commit to anything.

FAQ

Questions about us

Is Moving Solutions International a licensed customs broker?

Customs declarations must be lodged by a licensed customs broker or by the owner of the goods. Our customs work is carried out by our own team working with licensed customs brokers, so the classification, valuation and lodgement is handled by people accountable for it rather than passed to a third party you never speak to. If you need the licence details for a tender or a compliance file, ask us and we will provide them.

Are you a freight forwarder or a customs broker?

Both functions, one team. That matters more than it sounds. When freight and customs sit in separate companies, the handover between them is where documents get lost, biosecurity conditions get missed and nobody owns the delay. Having both in one team means the person who booked the vessel is the person who knows what the packing declaration says.

Do you own trucks, ships or warehouses?

We are a freight forwarder, not an asset owner, and we think that is the right model for this work. It means we can put your cargo on whichever carrier, vessel or vehicle is genuinely best for the shipment rather than the one we need to fill. We hold commercial relationships with carriers, origin agents and transport operators and we manage them on your behalf.

How big a client do I need to be?

There is no minimum. We handle first pallets and monthly container programs, and the first shipment for a new importer often needs more of our time than a routine container for an established one. What we would rather not do is quote a rate and leave you to work out the rest — if you want a number and nothing else, we are probably not the cheapest place to get one.

Who will I actually deal with?

A named coordinator who owns your shipment from booking to delivery, with a direct phone number. Not a shared inbox, not a ticket queue, and not a different person each time you call. For clients running regular programs, the same coordinator handles every shipment so they know your business rather than reading a file.

What are your business hours and how quickly do you respond?

Our Brisbane office operates during normal business hours. We aim to return quotes within one business day. For cargo already in transit, urgent issues are dealt with as they arise rather than queued — a container accruing demurrage is not a next-business-day problem.

Do you have professional indemnity and liability cover?

Yes, and we will provide current certificates of currency on request for your procurement or compliance file. Note separately that a forwarder’s liability is not a substitute for marine cargo insurance on your goods, which we strongly recommend and can arrange.

What happens if something goes wrong?

You hear about it from us, with what we know, what we do not yet know, and what we are doing about it. We would rather make an uncomfortable phone call early than manage a problem quietly and be found out later. If we have made a mistake we say so, fix what can be fixed, and tell you what we have changed so it does not recur.
